Brianna Cartwright

I first sat on a pony when I was 2yrs old at my Aunty Eva’s house, his name was Pete and I still remember crying when I had to get off to give someone else a turn. Then when I was 4 I got my first pony called Bunny who was also 4 and was born on Easter Sunday. Bunny was only 86cm tall, a black and white miniature shetland pony who I used to ride up and down Matcham Rd on and around the house. You could never leave the door open as mum did many times as Bunny would come in the house and eat whatever he could find such as dog biscuits, donuts and chilli that was on the kitchen bench, Mum wasn't very happy. We still have him he is 10.

Toby was 12 hands with a pretty white blaze, a real pony. We started pony club the next year at Matcham Valley and Toby taught me to trot and canter. We had lots of fun.

We sold Toby 2 years later and we bought a very cute little grey pony who had just turned 3 called Indy. Indy and I went to pony club, interclubs and dressage. Indy has such a great temperament for a young pony we got champion at the Zone pony club dressage and Reserve champion at the overall Zone dressage, he was very obedient. I'd been riding Indy and having lots of fun for 18 months when all of a sudden my younger sister Georgia decided that she wanted to ride. I was not very happy as I had to pass Indy on to Georgia as he was only 12 hands and mum suggested that we get a bigger pony for myself. So the search begun, my Aunty Eva found Sassy, a 5yr old riding pony mare related to her pony called Lady, she appeared to have a great temperament. She is 13.1 hands and she is a good girl. I have since taken her to pony club, jumped her and I have just started competing her in dressage at CCDA and Somersby Equestrian Club.

My dream would be to be a top dressage rider (Olympics would be cool!) however I'm only 10 and I have a long, long way to go.

I LOVE HORSES.
