President's Report
Wendy's Word
There are many people that make a weekend such as the Championships successful and all need to be thanked. A list of the volunteers can be found later in the newsletter. I would like to specifically thank a few key people who were tireless in their efforts to make the weekend so successful.
Michel Oakley who once again did a huge amount of work for the championships including chasing sponsors (ringing, writing and picking up prizes and banners) getting many fabulous prizes, organising judges (with a few changing at the last minute), providing accommodation for a judge, scoring (both days), setup of Il Cadore on Friday as well as compete.
Claire Heenan once again did a sterling job creating a draw with lots of riders, horses and events. Fielding many calls before and during the weekend from eager competitors ever chasing a better draw, despite all this Claire kept her good humour. Claire was also found scoring and helping out across the weekend when she wasn't competing or getting ready to compete.
Cindy Kelly organised all helpers other than pencillers, organised the scoring shed (copying many, many test papers), setting up Il Cadore on Friday, gear checking across the weekend as well as finding time to compete herself on 2 horses!
Shauna Murphy coordinated the many pencillers required across the weekend as well as pencil herself for a significant period. Organising pencillers requires many calls, emails and juggling to fit pencillers availability and experience.
CCDA relies on volunteers to exist and to be able to provide competitions, clinics and other activities. In 4 weeks from 22 May the club organised a 2 day competition (22 & 23 May), Nadia Coughlan clinic (29 & 30 May, which was unfortunately cancelled), Judges clinic (6 June) and Andrew Mclean clinic (10 & 11 June). This is a huge effort particularly as these events tend to be organised by the same core group of people who are ALL VOLUNTEERS.
CCDA will hold its AGM on 7 July at Ourimbah RSL. All members are encouraged to attend to ensure that they get a say in how the club is run. There will be a number of positions declared vacant at the meeting and the committee is looking for some new ideas and helpers to ensure that the club can maintain its momentum and be able to provide members with lots of activities.
If you are interested in joining the committee but apprehensive as you may not have done anything like this before be assured that any new committee will be well supported by the existing committee. I look forward to seeing you at the AGM in July.
Happy Riding
