Welcome

Volunteer of the Year Winner-Bill Barrett

The Award:

The Volunteer of the Year Award is to acknowledge the important roles of volunteers in the Central Coast Dressage Association and to encourage others to participate in the club. The Volunteer of the Year is a perpetual trophy. The winner will receive a keepsake and a free annual membership to CCDA for the next financial year. The Volunteer of the Year award is presented annually at the CCDA Presentation Night.

Criteria:

To be nominated for the Volunteer of the Year Award a person must be nominated by a member of the CCDA. Nominees are expected to meet one or more of the criteria as listed below:

  • Be an active member of the committee of the CCDA
  • Volunteer at three or more competitions throughout a year
  • Have undertaken a significant project on behalf of the CCDA that has required many voluntary hours.

Nomination:

This year's worthy recipient was nominated by Dallas Sharvell. This volunteer has assisted the CCDA committee at every competition since July 2009 plus few competitions prior to July.

This Volunteer has put in endless hours helping in all the different roles that we always need assistance. In scoring, placing tests, gear checking, collection of dressage papers, handing out folders to judges, pencilling and even down to helping to pack up at the end of day.

There was one day in particular, we didn't have as many volunteers for the day as we would have hoped for. And competition mornings can become very, very busy at times when you have queries from competitors, needing to carry out gear checking, greeting judges & pencillers and then try to coordinate all these things to run smoothly.

This morning got a little crazy & was then topped off with an anxious judge becoming abusive. This cheerful person stepped in to give me back up which was just fabulous!!! However they then went on to pencil and after lunch they spent the whole afternoon scoring. Who better deserves this award than our patient, cheerful, cheeky, helpful and not to mention MALE! - Bill Barrett!
