Welcome

CCDA News

Welcome back to competition. It was great to see horses competing at Il Cadore again on the 2 March after a long 6 months absence. The weather was interesting and went from cool and showers in the morning to warm and sunny in the afternoon. Entries were down on what was expected for a first competition in 6 months but none the less the quality was good. It was enjoyable catching up with horsey friends and seeing horses going around at the same time. more...

The AEBC training system

Andrew working with Ant and MichelThe AEBC training system developed by Andrew and Manuela McLean is relevant for both horse and rider, across all levels; ranging from foundation training (breaking-in), right up to FEI level dressage. It applies to every equestrian discipline, from pony club to polo, racing and show jumping, and the principles apply to all situations, whether it's learning to lead in-hand, float (trailer-load) and shoe calmly, jump obstacles obediently, calmly and straight, turn effectively, come-up on command, or perform challenging tricks.

The emphasis in all aspects of training is on relaxation, attentiveness and self-carriage. The AEBC approach is unique in that it combines classical training with a strong emphasis on scientific understanding of animal psychology and horse behaviour.

The club welcomes people willing to help out at a competition. We need help with setting up, packing up the arenas, pencilling, gear checking, collecting test papers and scoring. A spare hour on a competition day is very welcome. Please mark your entry form with your willingness to be a more active club member.

The next comp is our championship comp – two days – lots of help required.

There are more toilets now available at Il Cadore - one up at the top parking area, one between arena 3 and 4 (the little green shed) and for early morning arrivals the wrought iron gates at the front of the indoor building are always open and there is a toilet available.

Our competitions will abide by whatever the current restrictions/ protocols or requirements are in place for the conduct of events in the particular zones at that time.  Stay tuned to the CCDA and DPI websites for updates on the situation.

Pony classes will be available at any official test in the next competition, our May Championships. Classes will only be held if entries permit and this will be at OC discretion.

At the AGM, 2nd July, the committee will consider the future of pony classes at CCDA – whether to widen the range classes, Champions Pony trophies or not. If you have an opinion on this matter and wish to have a say, please feel free to attend the AGM.

The EFA now require all official competitors to compete using bridle numbers on both sides of the horse (can be bridle or saddle cloth mounted). CCDA is not making this mandatory, yet. The use of bridle numbers will be considered at the next General Meeting, to be held on 7th May.

If you need a bridle number, contact

, Dressage NSW with your owner & horse EFA numbers or phone her on 4576 7996. Actual number sets can be purchased from DNSW and most saddleries.

Congratulations to all our winners from 2007. A great night was had at Gosford Golf Club for the presentation. The food was great and the venue a nice size. more...

Please advised that the revised rule book has come into effect (1 Jan 2008). Copies can be down-loaded from the EFA national web site (http://www.efansw.com.au/ under Rules and Regs - Dressage). more...

There is now more parking available in the new top parking area - complete with toilet and running water and close to all arenas! To get there, turn into Il Cadore and immediately veer right up the dirt road keeping the indoor arena on your left (rather than heading down the driveway and turning left into the bottom car park).

For those parking in the bottom car park, please park responsibly to enable the maximum number of people to use the available area. There should now be plenty of parking for all.

Just a reminder that if your horse has not had influenza and has not been immunised yet, please contact your local horse vet.

For safety reasons, there is no pedestrians access to the indoor arena via the horse-entry roller door. Please do not enter or stand in the doorway to watch riders warming up as we have had people kicked by passing horses. This narrow area with high horse traffic can be ‘scary’ making horses nervous.

If people wish to view the in door arena action, please enter via the doors on the north-western or western side of the building. People using or obstructing the horse access door will be asked to vacate the area.

Similarly riders, whilst waiting for gear check or next test, please do not obstruct the entry to indoor arena. If not waiting for gear check, please ensure there is plenty of room for those that wish to do so.

CCDA puts out five newsletters a year and they are timed to come out just after each competition. The main purpose of the newsletter is to give out the results of the competition, the entry form for the next competition and details of any forthcoming clinics, meetings or other events.
